| Last year, the famous Troian Horse used in the popular Hollywood movie, was brought to Canakkale with the efforts of the Culture and Tourism Ministry and The Muniplicity of Canakkale. In the reconstruction work of the giant Troian horse used in Troy movie, the German engineer, Erik LUDWIG, and the interpreter of the German constraction crew, Semra BEDER, have fall in love with each other. | EXCAVATION PERIOD IN THE ANCIENT TROIA GET STARTED |
| The excavation period for 2005 in the world-famous ancient city Troia have started. It is annouced that the excavation period will be directed by the Professor of Tubingen University, Manfred Osman KORFMAN, 50 scientists from 12 countries have taken their place in the excavation team. In the excavation programme the preliminary work which was started in 2004 would continue. The studies in 2004 will be taken into consideration more deeply. The proposed earthquakes which had supposed to destroy the ancient Troy 6 and 7 will be taken into consideration with further proofs. The excavation period for 2005 is planned to be completed on August 30,2005. |
| CANAKKALE ON FOCUS |
| Former general manager of culture and tourism ministery , Orhan KALKAN, told that for the development of Canakkale Tourism, the present infrastructure should be improved. Orhan KALKAN came to Canakkale as the tourism inspector of Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Mr KALKAN claimed that Canakkale is using less that 15% of her touristical potential. Mr KALKAN addded that Canakkale should be taken into the "Tourism area and center" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with subject to the 2366th law. Furthermore Mr KALKAN told that the concept of the historical bazaar with mirros and the clock tower square should be improved. Mr KALKAN insisted on the investment for alternative tourism resources in order to increase the number of accomodation more than one day per guest in Canakkale. |
| WORLD TOUR WITH YACHT |
| Ali and Nilgun Gunduz couple have started their world tour with their "Vagabond" yacht from the Canakkale Marine. Gunduz couple told that they have been travelling with their yacht for years and participated several yacht rallies. Mr Gunduz told that they are ready for their dream trip which will last about 5 years. In their route the couple will follow the Aegean coasts for a while then track the Greek, Italian and Spanish coasts. Next, they will head to Carribean Islands. In their trip, Mrs Gunduz will record all the trip. The Gunduz couple plans to perform a documentary with the videos of their world trip. |
| CHILDREN AND YOUTH VILLAGE |
| Envoirement and Forest Ministery representatives annouced that a new project has launced in order to establish a children and youth center in the Historical Gallipoli National Park. In the youth center, accomodation, catering, education and entertainment facilities will be orginised in order to accomodate youths and children all over the Turkey. The propesed location for the children adn youth center is considered as the north of the Alcitepe Village. The area of the center is proposed about 18 hectars on the former miltary gunner base beside the Alcitepe Village. The complex is proposed to accomodate 300 children and youths. On the other hand an information center with regards to the Historical National Gallipoli Park will be launched. The Envoirement and Forest Ministery representatives told that "the main goal under this project is to introduce and teach the facts of the most important place of Turkey History in gainning liberty." |

| Minister of Communications, Binali YILDIRIM, visited the Gokceada Island for investigation of the problems. Minister YILDIRIM firstly visited the construction work of Gokceada airport. The he attennded a meeting with the AK Party responsibles of Gokceada. In his speech to the press, Minister YILDIRIM claimed the biggest problem of the islad as the transportation. Minister YILDIRIM told that their main goal in Gokceada would be to perform and encourage huge investments in order to improve the immense tourism potential of the island. |
| GRAND KEPEZ HARBOUR OF CANAKKALE WILL BE OPENED IN AUGUST 2005 |
| The chief of Kepez Muniplicity of Canakkale, Ismail Yasar OGUZCAN, told that, The grand harbour in the Kepez village of Canakkale would be ready to serve for any type of ships and cruises on August 2005. It is told that the foundation of the harbour was laid in 1995 and completed in 1999. The work of upper infrastructure was put out to tender, and the contracter company "Kolin Group" laid the foundation of the upper infrastructure in May,2004. The approximate cost of the harbour reached about 35 bilion Ytl. It is expected a great value to the income of the Canakkale with the new grand harbour. |
| THE RESTORATION WORK OF THE HISTORICAL BAZAAR WITH MIRRORS IS CONTRACTED FOR THE FINAL PHASE |
| The chief of Canakkale Muniplicity, Ulgur GOKHAN told that, the restoration work have been started 4 years ago with the 11 shops facing to Inonu Street. In the second phase, the restoration of 32 shops in addition to 15 new shops is being processed. It is expected to start the final phase of the bazaar in September or October. It is expected to complete the restoration of the Canakkale" Historical Bazaar on March 18, 2007, the celebration of Canakkale Naval Victory. |

| With his immense work on the excavations in the ancient Troia, Professor Korfman has become well-known all over the world, particularly in Germany and Turkey. Recently Professor KORFMAN was selected as the member of TUBA (Turkey Science Academy) in the last annual meeting. The authorities of the TUBA told that they are glad to wellcome Professor KORFMAN. Professor Korfman has not only several works on the Anatolian Culture, but also several studies on Aegean and the Mediterranean culture. His great efforts on the ancient city Troia have crucial influence in the selection of the ancient Troia as world"s culture heritage by UNESCO. |
| ANZAC COVE WILL BE INSPECTED BY THE AUSTRALIAN AUTHORITIES |
| After the start of the road development project in the Historical Gallipoli National Park, Australian Government decided to appoint a delagate in order to inspect the work on the historical peninsula. After the inspection of the Australian War Monuments Bureau, it is annouced that a delagate from the Australian Government will be sent to Ankara in order to inspect the work on the historical Gallipoli Peninsula. It is told that the mission of the delagate would be to co-operate with the Turkish delagates in order to inspect the road development work on the historical peninsula in order to prevent any hazard on the field. |

| It is annouced that preliminary work in order to build a Russian Memorial in the Gallipoli Town is completed. The chief of Gallipoli Muniplicity,Cihat BINGOL, told that they have come to a conclusion with the Russian delegates in order to build a Russian Memorial devoted to the 25 thousand Russsian who came to Gallipoli Town between the years 1920 and 1921. After revolution in Russia between 1917-1918, about 25 thousand Czar supporters had escaped from the region to the Gallipoli Town. Later on, several Russian familes lived together in peace in the Gallipoli Town. | Grand Assos Hotel, which is located by the shores of the ancient city Assos, has been completely renovated after the administrationchange in the begining of 2005. The new owner of the hotel for 8 years, Bayram Cafer ERTEN, told that after a 3 months hard work for renovation, they are ready for the 2005 summer season. | PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP VISIT TO CANAKKALE |
| A group of 23 Greeks came to Canakakle in order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Istiklal Primary School. The Greeks, who are living in Nikea, Athens, told that they are happy to be in the 100th anniversary of the Istiklal Primary School in which their grand families had had thier education. It is told that after the imigration to Greece between 1922 and 1924, It is an unforgettable experience to return back to the lovely Canakkale. The chief of the Dardanelians Union in Greece, Angelik Georgankeli, gave a plaket to the manager of the Istiklal Primary School, Ismet Cubuklu. At the end of the cerenomy, the Greeks planted an olive tree in the garden of the school as a symbol of peace and friendship. |
