| Canakkale Culture and Tourism directorship has published 12.000 introductory brouchures of Canakkale in Japaniese language. The chief of Canakkale Culture and Tourism directorship, Ismail KANSIZ, told that after the publication of Turkish, English, and German brouchers of Canakkale, the 12.000 Broucher of Canakkale in Japaniese language has been ready for the distribution. Mr KANSIZ added that they have also published a book called "Canakkale in Photographs" , furthermore 5 attracting posters of Canakkale have been prepared. |
| THE DRAFT PLAN OF KILITBAHIR CASTLE AND ITS ENVOIREMENT WILL BE PREPARED |
| The restoration work of Kilitbahir Castle, built by the Ottoman Sultan "Mehmet the Conqueror" in 1462, and its envoirement is being restorated in order to become as one of the most attractive touristical spots to visit in Canakkale. The authorities told that the first phase of the restoration work of the castle has been completed and as the second phase, the draft plan of the castle and its envoirement will be clarified for further investments in order to serve milions of tourists each year. |
| CANAKKALE IS READY FOR THE 2005 EXCAVATION PERIOD |
| It is told that there would be excavations in the 6 separate regions of the Canakkale district. The authorities of the Canakkale Museums Directorate told that the first excavation progress in 2005 would be started at the end of June in the ancient city Troia. It is added that further excavations would be carried in Apollon Smintheus, Assos, Alexandrea - Troas, Gokceada Bademli village , and Biga Kemer Praion. It is planned to complete the excavation period by the end of September 2005. |

| Canakkale is enjoying the rapidly increasing interest of the local tourists coming from all over the Turkey. Although Canakkale has several impressive touristical places to visit, enough interest couldn"t have been sustained for years. With the recent comprehensive investments in the Historical Gallipoli National Park and the particular interest of the Turkish Government as well as the press, Canakkale is now attracting immense interest from all over the Turkey. Every weekend tousands of people are coming to visit the impressive sites of Canakkale. In the beginning, the immense interest had caused huge traffic jams, the situatition is now slightly better with some regulations to the school trips coming all over the Turkey. The authorities claim that to extend the visit period of the school trips to the week days will mostly solve the traffic jam problem. |
| THE KOC GROUP"S SUPPORT TO CANAKKALE TOURISM |
| The KOC Group,one of the largest companies of Turkey, is going to restorate the Seddulbahir Castle of Canakkale. In March 18th, 2005 festivies of the Canakkale Naval Glory, The Prime Minister Recep Tayip ERDOGAN and The head of board of directors of KOC Holding, Mustafa KOC, has signed a contract in order to restorate the historical Seddulbahir Castle. Mr KOC told that the restoration work would start very soon and is planned to be completed in 4 years time. The Seddulbahir Castle was originally built by Ahmet Pasha in 1659 in the period of Khan Mehmet IV. The comprehensive renovation of Seddulbahir Castle would strenghten the increasing tourism potential of Canakkale |
